The lodge has proven to be one of our most popular units. It sleeps up to 8 people and is therefore suited to both families and groups of friends. Also, we can fit one or two cots into two of the doubles. This is on top of the 8 person limit. In addition to this, it can be connected to The Cottage via an upstairs door and can then accommodate a family/group of up to 14 persons. Dating back to the mid 1600’s , it has all the originality of the old cottage. With exposed beams, original fireplace (with salt drying inset), open plan lounge, dining area. The beams fitted in these properties were actually fitted as a whole tree ! The carpenters were then commissioned to 'cut to fit' whilst in situ. The main beam is 40cm x 40cm ! Great care has been taken to provide character furniture in keeping with the age of this property, some of which is over 100 years old ! A fully equipped kitchen featuring a dishwasher, gas cooker, fridge, microwave, and more than enough utensils so you can create a BBQ, bake bread or prepare a full Sunday roast without running short, ensuring you have a real 'home from home' feel whilst staying with us. The Lounge with feature fireplace (wood burning stove), television, video, DVD and CD/Music centre provides the ideal place to relax and unwind after your day. The view to the front is across the courtyard, through an ancient hedgerow and out across the fields, up & over the Don Valley. To the rear, you look out over our 2.5 acre garden, then through an old hedgerow and on towards a wooded area owned by our local Count and Countess ! La Rose Room: Downstairs double bedroom with ensuite shower, toilet and wash hand basin. This room has patio doors leading onto the courtyard. This area can be adapted to be a self contained unit if required. Rear doorway leads to a private patio area with barbeque, Gazebo, table & chairs.
Stairs up to first floor ( the stairs are steeper than normal as is traditional in some older properties ) :-
2 double bedrooms: The Tapestry Room has a double bed, bedside table, occasional table with chair, large wardrobe with full length mirror and, of course, a locally made tapestry. The Electric Room has a double bed, two bedside tables, occasional table with chair, large wardrobe and full length mirror. 1 twin bedroom. Le Chene Room. Two single beds, chest 'o' drawers and with views over the rear garden and beyond ! Bathroom Large bathroom with floor to ceiling old oak beams and bags of character.
