The Cottage has been sympathetically renovated to expose the original beams and the old oak stable door has been restored. With the top half of the door open you can stand and watch the world go by. The Cottage comfortably sleeps 6 persons but can sleep up to 8. This would require the use of the downstairs sofa-bed (seen in picture above) and you need to be aware that there is only one bathroom. If used to sleep 8 then there would be an additional surcharge of £50 per week to cover the extra usage. The Lounge is open plan and has a very well equipped kitchen area with gas 4 ring cooker with oven, microwave, dishwasher, fridge, coffee percolator and much more. The dining table seats 6 but can be increased if so desired. The
Lounge features an old, pot bellied wood burning stove, television, video, DVD and CD/Music
Centre. A lot of time and thought has been put into providing character furniture
in keeping with the age of this property, some of which is over 100 years
old ! It also features some other old pieces to add to the character like an old
1940's type writer and a 1930's Singer sowing machine !
Stairs up to first floor ( the stairs are
steeper than normal as is traditional in some older properties ) :- The Green Room, This is a double bedroom with a chest'o'drawers, wardrobe and bedside table. It also has a large double window that looks out onto the courtyard at the front, over an old hedgerow and then, in the distance, is a view over the Don Valley. The Narnia Room, why the Narnia Room ? Well, this double bedroom has the largest wardrobe in the whole complex. The wardrobe dates back to the 19th century. Along with the wardrobe is two bedside tables. The view from this room is via a velux window and is the same as the Green Room. 1 twin room with single beds. This bedroom can be modified to hold a cot if required. The view from this room is also from a velux window and looks over our 2 acre garden and over a very old hedgerow, across a field to a large wood where deer, wild boar and pheasants roam. There is also shower room with wash hand basin and toilet. The view is via a velux window and is the same as the twin bedroom.
The Cottage is situated in the middle of our longere, and a connecting door allows the Cottage and the Lodge to become one property thereby giving guests the opportunity to combine the two properties to sleep up to 16 persons with a total of three shower rooms.
