There is a choice of exceedingly big horses down to very docile Shetland Ponies. Horse Racing In the surrounding area there are several horse racing tracks. The closest (and biggest) nearest to us is Chateaubriant. During the Summer they have meetings almost every week. Unlike UK, the French consider a day at the races as a family affair and you can partake in a glass of wine, a meal, the odd flutter or just sit there and soak up all the noise, colour and excitement ! At the 'meets' you will see 'flat', 'jumps' and 'trotting'. Please do not ask me about horse racing. I still do not understand an 'each-way' bet when all the horses go the same way !!!!
